Industry Leader Stull Technologies Kicks Off Plant Modernization
with Purchase of Energy-Saving Powerline All-Electric Injection
Molding Machines
Local utility's $20,000+ incentive for purchasing three energy-saving
machines advances closure molder's vision for increased capacity
- but lower-COST capacity
Somerset, NJ,
June 2002 -Stull Technologies' first phase of a total plant modernization
got a $20,000+ boost from the company's electric utility, Public
Service Electric & Gas, as a result of the selection of three
energy-saving Milacron Powerline all-electric injection molding
machines. The new 330-ton machines join approximately 40 other machines
- primarily Milacron, including 3 existing all-electrics - to mold
the company's lines of proprietary caps and closures for internationally
recognized producers of health and beauty aides, household chemicals,
food, beverage, pharmaceutical, hobby and other specialty products.
"The delivery
of these machines in June will set in motion the first phase of
our plan to automate our plant with all-electric Milacron injection
presses, as well as upgrade our facility to improve overall efficiencies,"
said Jason W. Stull, marketing manager. "It also marks the
continuation of a long-standing technology relationship with Milacron,
which we consider a strategic asset in our growth. Andrew Niebuhr,
sales representative for The Machinery Group, Milacron's east-coast
agent, added, "The utility company's incentive for these energy-saving
machines proves that with the right technology, a gain in capacity
does not always mean a pain in the budget."
Milacron's Powerline
injection machines satisfy the incentive program's requirements
with a proven increase in efficiency of two to four times over conventional
machines. Though it sounds contradictory, all-electric injection
molding machines are typically three times more efficient than conventional
hydraulic machines - and higher in performance too. They save energy
because their motors use electricity only when actually doing work,
unlike conventional machines whose motors gobble energy even while
idling.
All this has
been proven by independent tests, most recently by Southern California
Edison. Electric machines offer other "green" benefits,
too, including elimination of hydraulic oil, greater precision,
reduced noise, lower air conditioning costs, etc.
"With the
higher efficiency of the Powerline machines, we can increase the
capacity of our plant, while not increasing the amount of energy
we draw from our utility," Stull concluded. "Our broad
goal is to improve quality, plant cleanliness, efficiency and productivity,
as well as improve our plant environment by reducing noise."
Backed by consistently
superior customer service, Stull Technologies specializes in the
manufacture of patented, custom-designed closures. The company is
more than 50 years old, and employs approximately 125 people. Its
180,000-sq-ft manufacturing facility and corporate offices are located
in Somerset, NJ.
